Authorisations for the RewardNation Slack App

You can see the authorisations on Slack's App Directory. It's also pasted below for your easy reference.

On behalf of users, RewardNation can:

  •  View information about a user’s identity, granted by 1 team member
  •  Manage a user’s public channels and create new ones on a user’s behalf, granted by 1 team member
  •  View information about a user’s identity, granted by 2 team members
  •  View a user’s email address, granted by 2 team members

On behalf of the app, RewardNation can:

  • Manage public channels that RewardNation has been added to and create new ones
  • View basic information about public channels in a workspace
  • Send messages as @rewardnation
  • Send messages to channels @rewardnation isn't a member of
  • Add shortcuts and/or slash commands that people can use
  • View custom emoji in a workspace
  • View basic information about private channels that RewardNation has been added to
  • View emoji reactions and their associated content in channels and conversations that RewardNation has been added to
  • Add and edit emoji reactions
  • View the name, email domain, and icon for workspaces RewardNation is connected to
  • View user groups in a workspace
  • View profile details about people in a workspace
  • View people in a workspace
  • View email addresses of people in a workspace
  • Join public channels in a workspace
  •  View URLs from www.rewardnation.co

In a nutshell, here's some of the commonly asked questions:

  • What can RewardNation NOT see and do in your Slack workspace?

    We cannot:

    • See and access your private channels. Which means you also cannot post recognition messages in those private channels. Recognitions can only be posted in public channels.
    • Read any of your messages in all channels, other than recognition messages.
    • This means that although your recognition messages can be posted onto public channels, we will not be able to read any other messages posted in those public channels. Except for that recognition message.

  • What can RewardNation see in your Slack workspace?

    • Name, icon, and emails of your Slack users - so that you can invite them onto the .RewardNation app, which will automatically create their user profile.
    • Name of your public channels - so that you can post recognitions onto those channels, eg. #marketing.
    • Recognition messages - so that we can send monthly reports to your admin on your team's engagement statistics.

  • What can RewardNation do in your Slack workspace?

    • Create public channels for your team to house all recognition messages. Your RewardNation admin will be the one deciding the name of that public channel, and which users to invite into that channel. Common channel names include #kudos, #appreciation, #team_hangout.
    • Post automated messages in your dedicated RewardNation channel, and to your RewardNation users, eg. "You have received +250 points from @Amy: Thank you for helping me to onboard the new interns across three different timezones!"
